While her half-sisters Bella and Gigi may have been dominating the runways for the best part of a decade now, Alana Hadid had not been planning to make her own catwalk launching at Copenhagen Style Week this week. “I had decided to come to Copenhagen [as] I like Danish brand names,” she tells Style during what is her very first journey to the city.” [Saks Potts] caught wind that I was coming and asked me to stroll [their program]; I was extremely honored.”
In spite of the wet and windy conditions for her very first catwalk show, held outside by the Copenhagen shoreline, Hadid– using a cropped beige blazer teamed with a blue sequined skirt over denims and flip flops– took it all in her stride. “It was raining but it was stunning: dramatic and quite impressive,” she says. “I have actually loved Saks Potts for a very long time so it was extremely exciting to open for them.”

She quickly followed up her catwalk launching with 2 turns on the Munthe catwalk on Thursday, using a sheer embroidered gown and a leather mini. “I’m really so in love with walking runways,” Hadid describes. “It was not something that I came here to do, however it’s been an exciting twist. I intend to come back once again and stroll more shows.”
While we’ve seen a renewal of 40-plus models on the runway of late, including Amy Wesson at Gucci and Liya Kebede at Isabel Marant and Khaite, it’s still fairly rare for models to begin their careers after turning 40– a turning point that Hadid just recently commemorated with a toga-themed birthday party participated in by sibling Gigi. “I seem like I’m living my life backwards, I love it,” she states. “Among the most lovely aspects of Copenhagen Style Week is how inclusive it is.”
